About Us

The social service sector provides services for the well-being of the community and assists disadvantaged individuals in dealing with life’s challenges. As the statutory body in charge of the sector, the National Council of Social Service (NCSS) is the coordinating body for more than 450 Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) offering more than 2,100 social service programmes. To support these programmes, the sector’s manpower is projected to grow at an average of 5 per cent annually. Today, we have some 13,000 social service professionals serving different groups of people in need.

Our efforts are focussed on the following key social causes:

  • Empowering persons with disabilities to live independently
  • Keeping families together
  • Helping the elderly live with dignity
