The Home Team is the umbrella of different agencies under the Ministry of Home Affairs. It is an organisation of more than 23,000 members who come together to play an integral role in ensuring the safety and security of the country.

Local Merit Scholarship

​​​​​Local Merit Scholarship (LMS) helps you take your first steps towards a meaningful and rewarding career with the Home Team, beginning with an undergraduate education at a local university. Upon the completion of your studies, you will take on a career as a Home Team Officer in one of the Home Team departments - Singapore Police Force, Singapore Civil Defence Force, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, Singapore Prison Service or Central Narcotics Bureau.


• Singapore citizens or Permanent Residents intending to take up Singapore Citizenship 
• Good co-curricular activities (CCA) records and Phyiscal Fitness (PES A or B)
• GCE ‘A’ Levels (with at least 10 academic units), International Baccalaureate (IB), Polytechnic Diploma (with Merit) or equivalent 
• Good performance in National Service
• Keen interest in a career with the Home Team

• Pre-studies allowance e.g. computer 
• Hostel allowance
• Sponsorship for exchange programmes (if requirements are met)
