The SAF Scholarship was introduced in 1971 to attract top talents into the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). Previously known as the SAF Overseas Scholarship (SAFOS), its prestige is second only to the President’s Scholarship, The SAF Scholarship offers access to a world-class education and developmental opportunities through a series of command and staff appointments to groom you for the highest level of leadership.
• Singapore citizens at point of application.
• Good GCE ‘A’ Levels or International Baccalaureate (IB) results, Polytechnic Diploma (with Merit) or equivalent
• Good co-curricular activities (CCA) records
• Strong leadership qualities
• Qualify for and excel in Officer Cadet School (OCS)
• Possess a strong interest in a military career
Overseas Studies
• Full salary for the duration of studies (including bonuses)
• Full tuition fees and other approved academic charges
• Overseas maintenance and other allowances e.g. books, computer
• Return economy airfare
• One-time sponsorship for summer exchange programme
• Sponsorship for up to 6 years of studies, inclusive of Master’s (conditions apply)
Local Studies
• Full salary for the duration of studies (including bonuses)
• Full tuition fees and other approved academic charges
• Maintenance and other allowances e.g. books, computer
• Hostel fees, if any (based on twin-sharing rates)
• One-time sponsorship for summer exchange programme
• Sponsorship for up to 6 years of studies, inclusive of Master’s (conditions apply)
Bond:
• Overseas English Speaking Countries: 6 years
• Overseas Non-English Speaking Countries: 5 years
• Singapore: 4 years (with/without Master’s; Double Degrees) from the point of resumption of service upon graduation
Most disciplines* with the exception of professional courses such as architecture, medicine, dentistry, etc.
